The Joysway Smart-K Brushed Electric RTF is a cool flier that's ideal for beginning pilots. It is sold ready-to-fly after minor assembly and comes with all the key components you need to fly, including a 7.4V 250mAh battery, balance charger with DC adapter, and 2.4GHz transmitter. Installing the main wing is straightforward and the attachments are made with double sided tape in the kit. No glue or cement is required. The only thing not in the box is four AA batteries needed for the radio. With the radio, you can control the throttle, ailerons, and elevator so this is a three channel model. The red trim on the leading edge surfaces adds a nice flair to the design and also helps make it easier to see and orient in flight.
At 20.1 inches in length with a 29.5 inch wingspan, it is a bit larger than the three channel micro planes advertised for beginners. At this size, it is still simple to transport and easier to handle in winds than smaller, micro models. The propeller location behind the pilot cabin can seem a bit odd at first. However, this is one of the reasons the Smart-K is a good beginner plane. More scale looking planes like Cub or Cessna models are great fun, but novice pilots can tend to damage propellers on bad landings. Having the propeller tucked away like it is tends to keep it out of harm's way during landings. Planes with propellers more to the rear are friendlier for aerial photography as well, since you don't have to deal with a nose prop cutting into the picture all the time.
